Established in 2009, Fuerza Unida or “United Strength” is a social, cultural, academic, and community support program for PCHS Latino students and families. Using The Village Nation model, a team of elders made up of teachers, counselors, an administrator, and a parent organizes impact assemblies, parent meetings, and Latino Student Union (LSU) activities that educate, organize, and connect Latino students and families to resources and support. By strengthening the relationship with Latino parents and building a network of Latino families, Fuerza Unida builds the capacity of students to succeed in school and progress to college.
Fuerza Unida and the Bilingual Office is bringing to Pali the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE).
PIQE in partnership with Pali will be working with Latino parents with the purpose of getting them involved in the formal education of their children.
Pali believes that the participation of its parents is needed for students to do well academically. To achieve this, PIQE has developed a series of lessons to bring together our parents and our school. The end result of these lessons will be a group of our parents who will actively participate in the education of their children.
Some of the topics PIQE will focus in are: understanding the high school system, identifying the clauses that form part of the A-G requirements, recognizing the importance of the GPA, etc.
In addition to this, parents who graduate from PIQE's program with receive a CSU/PIQE College Admission Certificate.
