Graduation Requirements

All graduating students must fill out, sign and return a Graduation Contract to Mr. Lee in the Counseling Office by May 29th. You can find a copy of the Graduation Contract in the right-hand column of this page and in the Counseling Office. In addition to academic graduation requirements, which students are already aware of in order to receive diplomas, students must have returned all of their textbooks to the Library, returned any borrowed technology (such as Chromebooks), and must have cleared their absences with the Attendance Office. Blue Post-Graduation Plans cards must be submitted to the College Center by May 29th

Cap & Gown Sets

There are two (2) options for cap and gowns:

  1. You can "rent" a Cap & Gown at NO CHARGE, and return it after graduation
  2. You can purchase a Cap & Gown to keep for $35.00

If you would like to purchase your Cap & Gown, you can order it starting Monday, May 20nd in the Student Store or online at the PCHS Online Student Store HERE.

Please save your Cap & Gown purchase receipt because you will be required to show it as proof of purchase later to pick up your diploma.

Cap & Gowns will be distributed starting Friday, May 31st regardless of whether you are buying or renting them. You do not need to show a receipt at the time of pick-up. There will be a list of students who are eligible.

  1. After the graduation ceremony, students that did not purchase their Cap & Gown will need to go to the North side of Mercer Hall in the covered eating area (see Graduation Post Ceremony Map in the right-hand column of this page) and return their Cap & Gown in exchange for a rental return receipt
  • This rental return receipt needs to be shown in order to pick up a diploma in the first-floor classrooms in the E-F Mini-Quad classrooms.
  1. Students that purchase their Cap & Gown will not need to return it but rather may proceed directly to the first-floor classrooms in the E-F Mini-Quad classrooms to pick up their diploma by using their purchase receipt.

Graduation Ceremony Tickets

Starting Friday, May 31st, June 3rd, and June 4th at Nutrition, Lunch and at 2:06 pm, eligible graduating seniors can pick up with their Cap & Gown, and Four (4) tickets to the ceremony that can be distributed to family and friends. Cap & Gowns, and Four (4) tickets will be distributed at Mercer Hall according to last name:

Nutrition:  A-GAN          Lunch:  GAO-MER          2:06 pm:  MES-Z

Students must have met all posted requirements to receive their tickets. These Four(4) tickets will provide access to seating in the stadium stands on a general admission basis. Children over 36” (inches) tall must have their own ticket. For any family or friends requiring handicapped accessible seating, arrangements must be made in advance using the Disabled Parking Request Form HERE, and each person seated in this area (which is in the top row of bleacher seats on the Home Side for easy access from the parking lot) must present one of the four free tickets given to the graduating senior.  Family and friends not able to be admitted to the stands are encouraged to watch the live stream of the ceremony in Gilbert Hall starting at 5:30 pm.

Graduation is an exciting and memorable event, and as such we want as many people as possible to come and enjoy it. However, the Stadium by the Sea has an occupancy capacity limit dictated by the City of Los Angeles Fire Marshall, which is why we have to issue tickets and closely monitor attendance/admittance. We cannot let more people in the stadium than the Fire Marshall will permit. Each graduating student is allocated Four (4) tickets, and when adding all those people to the graduates themselves and the rest of the PCHS staff, we’re usually at the allowed capacity.  Therefore, if you do not have a ticket, or forget your ticket, you are not going to be allowed into the stadium.  We’ve also coded our tickets and added other features to catch duplicates/counterfeits. If you truly forgot your ticket, and you still come to the stadium to watch the event, you have 3 options:

  1. Go to Gilbert Hall on campus and view the Live broadcast of the event starting at 5:30 pm
  2. View the Live broadcast of the event at home on your computer via the PTV website HERE
  3. Watch from the perimeter of the stadium on the public sidewalk

Graduation Rehearsal

All graduating seniors MUST attend the graduation ceremony rehearsal on Graduation morning, which is scheduled from 8:00 am to about 11:00 am. Students who do not attend rehearsal may forfeit their right to participate in the ceremony. Students should speak with Mr. Lee if they are not able to attend. This is the only rehearsal before the ceremony at 5:30 pm. Students are to report to the same room where they attended their Senior Meeting (see Senior Meeting Agenda to the right of this page).

It is possible that the rehearsal will not require the full three hours allotted (especially if everyone pays attention and follows instructions) but it is essential that students be prompt and plan to attend for the full-time period as necessary in order to minimize delays and glitches at the early evening Ceremony. If your student rides the bus to school, please see the right-hand column for the rehearsal bus schedule.

Graduation Programs

Graduation Programs are printed on the morning of graduation (to ensure an accurate list of names) and are distributed at the Graduation Ceremony.  No advance copies of the program will be available.

Scheduling/Length of Ceremony and Diploma Pickup

The graduation ceremony will take place on June 6, at 5:30 pm, on the Football Field, and is expected to be between 90 minutes and 2 hours in length. Graduates must be in their assigned locations (see Senior Meeting Agenda located to the right of this page) by 4:30 pm. Graduates will receive diploma cases at the ceremony, and then following the ceremony will proceed to assigned locations and grouped by their counselor (see Graduation Post Ceremony Map located on the right-hand side of this page). Students will then either return their Cap & Gown in order to get a rental return receipt or show proof of purchase receipt of Cap & Gown in order to receive their diplomas in the first-floor classrooms in the E-F Mini-Quad classrooms.

Rules for Graduation Ceremony

Graduation is an important event in the lives of all involved. Working together as a school community will make this an event to remember. Please remember these rules:

  1. No artificial noisemakers allowed, including but not limited to air horns, whistles, vuvuzela, cowbells, etc. Other than your voice, which we still do expect to be kept within reasonable noise levels, no other noisemakers are allowed in the stadium.
  2. No items that obstruct attendees view including but not limited to tents, umbrellas, signs and balloons.
  3. No Alcohol or other illegal or inappropriate liquids or substances
  4. No Vaping/Smoking of any kind
  5. No animals allowed. Trained Service Dogs under the control of their owner/user who has a disability, and the Service Dog is working or performing tasks directly related to the individual's disability, are welcome.  Emotional Support and/or Comfort Animals are not permitted for any reason on PCHS grounds, including but not limited to Stadium by the Sea.
  6. No rollerblades/skates, skateboards, bicycles, razors, “Birds”, “Limes”, etc.
  7. No reserved seating or in and out privileges are allowed
  8. All other Campus-Wide and Stadium Field rules and regulations as posted on PCHS’s website
  9. Participant & Spectator Acceptable Behavior Required!

Parking, Seating, and Handicap Accommodations

Parking, Seating, and Handicap Accommodations

Please make a note of the following information on timing, parking, seating, handicapped and/or disabled attendees, and some event rules:

Request Disabled Parking HERE

(You must request handicapped/disabled parking by Thursday, June 6th at 2:00 pm SHARP!)

Discuss with your student where they are sitting on the field during the graduation ceremony. Students are generally assigned to the Home Side of the field or the Visitors Side of the field. This information is important and beneficial for:

Planning Where to PARK:

  1. First come, first served rule applies to all available parking spaces (including Handicapped & Disabled Parking), even with advanced reservation, so please plan to ARRIVE EARLY, but not before 3:00 pm.
  2. Do not come too early! Under no circumstances should you come to PCHS before 3:00 pm that day as the parking lots will not be open until then, and gates to the event/stadium do not open until 4:00 pm
  3. If your child is seated closer to the Home Side of the Stadium (next to the Stadium Parking Lot), you will want to park inside the main campus parking lot.
  4. If your child is seated closer to the Visitors Side of the Stadium (closer to Temescal Canyon Rd.), you will want to park along Temescal Canyon Rd., or thereabouts, where the Visitor-Side entry gate is located, but you can park in the main campus lot and walk over there if you’d like.
  5. Handicapped & Disabled Parking - Handicapped & Disabled Parking is available, however, we have a limited number of spaces available. Handicapped Parking is in the Stadium Lot on the Home Side of the Stadium and is permitted with a valid/current Handicapped Placard only. No Exceptions!
  6. Non-Handicapped people needing assistance to access the Stadium – Unfortunately there is no close-by/easy-access drop-off location, and we request all attendees to not stop on the streets to let people out of the car as it’s usually very congested and potentially dangerous.

Handicapped & Disabled Access:

  1. Home Side – Park in the Stadium Lot and make your way to the lower tier of that lot, and toward the lower tier exit onto Bowdoin St. The entrance to the Home Side of the Stadium is near that exit and then along the walkway back toward the Ticket Booth.
  2. Visitors Side – Park in the Stadium Lot, or any other spot you may prefer, and make your way to the Service Road entrance to the Main Campus that is by the Pool. A Security Guard at that gate will provide access through the gate next to the brick Music Building, and direct you to the tunnel that leads down to the Visitors Side entrance to the Stadium.
  • Handicapped & Disabled Seating:
  1. Home Side - Wheelchair attendees may sit on the main concourse/walkway close to the railing overlooking the bleachers and field. Restrooms are on the main concourse/walkway level at the beach/scoreboard side of the field. Please Note – Handicapped seating preference is a personal choice, and you’re welcome to sit on whatever side works best for you; however, it is generally considered a better view, and easier access to/from parking, to sit on the Home Side if you’re wheelchair bound.
  2. Visitors Side - Wheelchair attendees may sit on the field level area by the fence next to the track. Restrooms are on the same field level and are in the building next to the Visitors entrance to the Stadium. Please Note – Handicapped seating preference is a personal choice, and you’re welcome to sit on whatever side works best for you; however, it is generally considered a better view, and easier access to/from parking, to sit on the Home Side if you’re wheelchair bound.

Planning Where to ENTER and SIT (Home or Visitor Side Bleachers):

  1. If your child is seated on the Home Side of the Stadium, you are strongly encouraged to enter through the Home Side entry gate at the main ticket booth and sit in the Home Side bleachers.
  2. If your child is seated on the Visitors Side of the Stadium, you are strongly encouraged to enter through the Visitor Side entry gate located at the corner of Temescal Canyon Rd. and Bowdoin St. at field level and sit in the Visitor Side bleachers.

Please Note that there are occupancy limits to each side of the stadium and if the Police or Fire Department personnel “close” a section due to it reaching its limit, your only choice will be to sit on the other side.

Only Four (4) Tickets Per Graduating Student & No Re-Entry Allowed:

Tickets already used for entry into the venue (whether through the Home or Visitor Side gate), may NOT be re-used for ANY reason including, but not limited to:

  1. You decided you now want to sit on the other side (FYI - you may not move to the other side by going across the field, no matter how early you arrive) and you leave the stadium to go to the other side. If you’ve already entered the stadium and then the Police or Fire Department close that side of the stadium before you’ve been able to get a seat, PCHS will make accommodations to help get you to the other side of the stadium to watch the event
  2. Forgetting a jacket, camera, medicine, cellphone, etc. in the car or anywhere else and you want to retrieve it
  3. You helped someone that is handicapped or disabled into the stadium and into their seat and now want to go back out and give your ticket to a family member, or go to the other side, or go get something, or anything else.
  4. Any other reason you had for leaving the stadium

Graduation Rules (items will be confiscated and not returned):
